I receive calls from this number three or four times a week. There is no identification on the caller ID, and the caller never leaves a message. It is possible that it is Client Services, a specialized collection agency which does not buy junk debt, but works only with accounts which have been temporarily passed to them for collection by the original creditor. I speculate this because Client Services has called me in the past from another 636 number (636-947-2321). I have blocked the number.

abusive collection agency (according to their own employees). They are run by

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
