Have telephone several times daily for the past two month and have never left a message. Today they left a message for someone with the same last name who we do not know at all saying they were attempting debt collection. Do they just randomly call telepone numbers with people with the same last name?
Getting several calls a day and even on Sundays. I know it's against the law for a collection agency to call on Sundays and they are only allowed to during certain hours and can only make 2 contacts a day if they don't abide these rules they are subject to penalties and gives for breaking federal collection laws. Look up fair collection practices and see what the limits are before it's considered breaking the law. It will help you with the calls and you can file a formal complaint which helps us all when it cones to the unlawful way we are harrassed by debt collectors also puts them on the books for harradsment subjecting them to prosecution for the acts.
