Most likely it is a scammer.
What were the other numbers so all of this information can be tied together?
Talk to your lawyer, because this is what lawyers do : your lawyer will call them back. telling them he is representing you and they are to discuss this matter with him, and they are to make no more calls to you or anyone else, because all communications have to be done through him.
If the "debt collector" continues to call you and other people about you, you know it's a scammer, or a debt collector or skip tracer too stupid to follow the law.
Aha..they have found yet another number to call me from! This is the same "debt collector" who claim I owe them money, which I do NOT. They were calling about "legal matters", and asking for verification of my employment and other documents. I have complained and complained and nothing will stop this. What can I do? They call my family members as well!
Adding to my post above..I called the number back, after they called my work constantly for 15 minutes. We would hang up, they'd call right back. I called the number and they said "Location Services, can I help you?" I asked for the full company name and mailing address, so my attorney and I could send a cease and desist letter, as well as file harassment charges, as they are calling my work, cell phone, and every single member of my family they could find. They asked who they were speaking with, and I refused to give them my name, and kept repeating I wanted their information. She said "Let me transfer you to a supervisor". There was about 10 seconds of on-hold music, followed by a message that said "that is not a valid extension" and it hung up. Now what? I'm trying to fight this!

"They call my family members as well!" They call family, friends, and neighbors, and your work place in this case to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim (you) calls them and they can scare that you into paying their extortion money.
