Same as above. We do usually order coding books from them, but they call constantly. I did have to put in a complaint to their sales department. The thing that makes me upset is, is that when someone answers the phone here in the office, they ask for me but fail to identify themselves. When the girls ask if there's something they can help with, they refuse to speak to them and just say that they'll call back--even though we have told them numerous times that we aren't interested in buying anything else at this time and once we ARE, WE will call THEM.
Over the last 5 days, our family's land line has received on average 11 calls per day from this number as displayed by the caller ID. Sometimes as many as 5 calls are made within two minutes of each other. When the answering machine picks-up no one has ever left a message. The 646 area code is registered to New York City and even though we know people in the city it is not a number in any of our contact lists. When doing a Google search about this number it appears to be cell phone. However, this number is also being assigned to land lines with nothing has been reported by anyone. Will need to do more investigation.
This number belongs to Optum Health (the caller ID will usually say "United Health", probably to trick people into thinking they are calling from United Healthcare, an insurance company). Our office purchased ICD coding materials from Optum a few years ago for almost $300. Since then, there have been times where we have received at least one to two calls from this number per day, trying to get us to buy more.
Now normally, when you tell a telemarketer that you're not interested, they simply say "thank you for your time and have a great day" and then hang up. No big deal. Now Optum, on the other hand, they don't take no for an answer. They keep asking the same questions in different ways, trying to pressure you into buying something. If you hang up, there's a 50% chance they will try to call you back, sometimes more than once. I've never encountered a more aggressive telemarketing system in all my life.
The calls just keep rolling in, regardless of how angry I get or how many times I've insisted they stop calling us. Granted, the number of calls we get from this company has dropped to about one per week for almost the past six months now. Still, even that is a bit excessive, don't you think?
We receive legitimate calls from "United Healthcare", so when our caller ID shows "United Health", the office staff picks up. On the other end of the phone you can tell it's a call center and the caller didn't even bother to listen to your greeting. "Oh, yes, Hi, may I speak with the person who does your ordering for toner and toner supplies?"
