If you were the subject of a pending civil lawsuit, you'd have received a letter from the attorney for the other party.  You'd have a paper trail.

Then, if a case was filed, you'd have received a summons delivered to you by someone licensed to serve process in your locality.  You would NOT have first heard about any civil law case from some scammery-scummery debt collector who cold calls you and starts demanding money.

You can check this out yourself by simply going down to the local main civil court and checking the defendants civil list.  The court clerks are usually glad to help and are familiar with these kinds of scams.

Ignore and block these calls.

Received a phone call from 646-201-9499 on my company cell; they hung up and didn't leave a message. I called the number back and the person answered Apex Legal. She asked me if I had received a phone call and I told her yes and asked who they were looking for. (I pretty much already knew who they were looking for. Person who previously had phone had a lot of unpaid debt. Calls had stopped many years ago but looks like calls are starting all over again.) She looked it up and gave the name of the person who previously had the company cell number. I told her this person hasn't had the number for over 10 years. She stated they would remove the number from their contact info. Very nice, professional; will see now if they continue to call.

Just rec'd a phone call from 646-201-9499 stating they were from a Apex Legal about a Civil lawsuit against me.  I told the guy that I don't do business over the phone and he would need to send me the information.  He asked if he could text me the information and I told him no he could either fax or mail it to me.  He said "Umm, OK then" and hung up. He called on my work phone, only used my first name and sounded very unprofessional.  I will always tell these people that I don't do business over the phone!

Apex called me too. It's a scam. I just hung up.

Just got the same call about a "Civil Law Suit" . Asked for me by my first name, how professional. I asked who was calling. Spencer Brock from Apex Legal Processing 646 201-9499 calling to tell me that they were hired by a third party to tell me to call their client in advance of them going  to court. I asked him to explain what a Civil Law Suit was. He hemmed and hawed and was clearly unsure what to say. Then he put another guy on the phone. Wayne Stevens. He said they were a Litigations Office and I was directed to call 1888 755-6365 regarding an existing Civil Suit. He gave me a case number. I asked who the third party was and he said that due to the "Privacy Act" they were not allowed to tell me. Of course 2  minutes online and I found this thread proving what I had thought this was. An attempted scam. These lowlifes are anything but slick. Lame is more like it. Somebody should shut them down.
