Called at 9:46am. Diverted by a service I subscribe to that intercepts robo-dialed calls (rhymes with SoNoHobo). I called back (*67) and got a cheerful female voice informing me that she was with Rewards Redemption and, since I had visited one of their websites (not true) I had won a $100 gift card; then I hung up. I'm sure they would want a credit card / bank account number in order to "give" me the $100 gift card.
Yet another "Out of Area" caller I.D. Apparently that's the fad sweeping the fraudulent and spam cold calls this month. And apparently there are enough suckers out here who will assume that a legitimate company would have such an I.D. Hunh! I got one from not only one of my metropolitan area codes, but from within my own; how could THAT not be in the area?
P.T. Barnum (Barnum & Bailey's Circus): "There's a sucker born every minute." I'm not feeling superior, just realizing that this sort of thing is proof of the statement.
