I called the number back, listened the VM saying I won a gift card, then it gave instructions, press 1 for gift card, or PRESS 2 TO BE PLACED ON A DO NOT CALL LIST. I pressed 2, & it said thank you, & goodbye.

All you have done was verify to the scammers that your number is a potential target that is willing to interact with a caller. You can expect more calls to be coming your way now.
I would highly recommend NOT pressing any key if you don't know the caller.
