I also screened calls from this number for a week or two, finally answered and got the same spiel as all of these people. Microsoft/Dell/etc. will never just call you randomly.
I receive calls from this number nearly daily. The name that comes up on called I.D. is AVSC International. An Indian-accented man represents that he is calling from Dell Computers in response to error messages that are coming up from my computer on their end. He knows my name, home phone number, and model computer I own. He does not know anything further about the computer, and when pressed (which computer are you calling about? Serial number?) for further information, he hangs up. When I hit "redial" on my phone, I got a messages saying the number had been disconnected or was no longer in service, yet it was the number from which they call me on a daily basis. This is a SCAM. Dell does NOT initiate calls to customers unless the customer has made an appointment and has initiated a service ticket. Hang up if anyone tries to tell you they are calling from Dell or Microsoft to help you with your computer. They are trying to take your money or take control of your computer. Dell has assured me that they have no technology that would enable them to receive error messages from a specific computer and the best response is to hang up.
I, too, get calls from scammers claiming to be with Windows, Microsoft, or Dell saying that I have issues or viruses showing up on my computer and they want me to go onto my computer. I get these calls every time after I have called Dell Technical Support. The Dell technical support people that I get are always from India and have the same accent as these scammers that always start calling me several days later. Since this is such a common occurrence for me, I feel sure that the scammers are hackers of Dell's Technical Support customer info (one even told me my SVC tag number) or that our customer data is being sold to scammers there in India. This same scenario has occurred consistently over the last 3 yrs. So, for the last 10 days I have gotten daily calls from AVSC International 646-435-6135 claiming to be from Windows Support saying that they are getting notifications about problems on my computer, which is about right since I talked to Dell Technical Support 2 wks ago. If I accidentally pick up one of their calls, like I did today, I always tell them that I'm calling Dell's Technical Support back to see why they didn't fix my computer correctly and hang up.
