I have a cell number from NYC (area code 646, when I stayed there and will be moving there shortly). I am currently in California. I keep getting calls with the same area code but from various numbers, however, whoever calls never leaves a message. I figured they were just misdialed numbers, so I didn't call back as I didn't recognize those numbers.
This time, 646-517-4935 called while I was about to call someone else so I was able to answer on the first ring and they hung up. So I did an internet search which led me to this site. Now I am thinking that other calls from 646 numbers are from scam artists or otherwise frauds. Thank you people for alerting me.
