Called on a National Holiday. CID said "NEW YORK, NY". Picked up because we have family in NYC and was concerned it might be an issue with them. Picked up at fourth ring and before I could even say 'hello' an ILLEGAL pre-recording of a WHITE WOMAN's voice started saying "this call is in response to your request regarding a back-brace..." WRONG! CLICK. I hung up on them. So, this is a MEDICARE SCAM call which is another scam of the FILTHY RICH in this country to drain the Treasury. They might HIRE the overseas call centers, but you can bet the $$ is going into the WALL STREET ilk's pockets. I love how they assume all 'seniors' are stupid or senile.
Called but I know no one in "New York, NY" so let it go to answering machine as I never answer numbers I don't know. Gee, they didn't leave a message. I've now blocked the entire 646 area code.
Caller ID like everyone else has been saying...UNASSIGNED. I did not answer. I NEVER answer bogus calls from unknown phone numbers. Caller is now blocked. Too bad it's not that easy to put them in a grave.
Phones still work in a grave, they just need a wire or fiber optic connection to the outside world ...
The UNASSIGNED word appearing as the CNAM is interesting.
There is speculation that some small TSPs (Telephone Service Providers, including cellular) have been putting that word in their database so when a Caller ID lookup comes in, that is the response. If so, it helps identify spoofs of numbers that are not in use yet !!
