Just for the record:
I should add, that I have donated and will continue to donate to the REAL American Heart Association. Unless I should learn that these calls were really made by them or by a sub-contractor hired by them! No charity, however worthy, has a right to annoy.
Has called several times a day over last week or so. They may be legit or they might be, as I suspect, a scammer because he/she/it never leaves a message. I've started turning off my answering machine on these calls and just letting it ring (about six rings) out, hoping that may stop it.
If any legitimate charities happen read this, I have donated and will continue to donate in the future, but not if I've EVER been robo-called. I have a list of charities I will NEVER, ever contribute to, because they robo-called me, if even just once that I'm aware of. When I answer the phone, I expect someone to be on the line, ready to speak to me, and not be disconnected automatically because no agent was available. Don't these charities realize they're creating, counterproductive, ill will?
Although charities are pretty much exempt from the DNC list, every legitimate one I've ever encountered either does follow the DNC or maintains its own internal one. So, I pretty much assume that any "charity" that calls me more than once (when I've always requested removal) is a scam.
So, "AM HEART ASSOC," if you somehow see this and really are legitimate, I don't care. You will never see so much as one penny in donations from me, because you've gained my enmity with your robo-calls!
I'm probably not alone in this feeling, so if any representatives of any real charities happen to read this, you might take note.
