Got call from non native english speaker identifying himself as from cheep o air, I think, as he was hard to understand. He said I had purchased airline tickets on a credit card and I refused to confirm or give any information. Upon hanging up I immediately checked credit and found fraudulent charges from several places and when I talked to the fraud department I was told cheep o air had called just prior to my reaching them phishing for information.
The first call I got from these guys was at 3:23 AM, woke my whole family up!!! Then again at 7:23, 7:24, and 7:34 AM.... three calls with in ten minutes!!!!! If someone really wanted to talk to me bad enough to call me THREE TIMES in ten minutes, then leave a MESSAGE!!!! I called it back and got a recorded message about cheap air and travel prices but no name for the company, I didnt wait to talk to a representative.
A woman called me from this number at 1:30am and then again at 6:39am, waking me up both times. She said that I just bought a plane ticket 10 minutes ago so it was ok for her to call in the middle of the night. I told her she is a liar and not to call back. That obviously didn't work becuase they called again 5 hours later so I am going to report them to www.donotcall.gov and encourage other people to do the same.
First they called the landline of where i grew up. My brother passed along my cell number. They left a message for me to call back and gave be a confirmation number. When i called back it was an automated system that picked up and sounded very legit. As soon as they asked me for the last four digits of my credit card number i knew it was a fraud. The first guy even tried putting me on the phone with his supervisor! Even if they know the first digits do not give them any information. I immediately called my credit card company.
