Got a call from this number yesterday stating that a warrant would be issued if I did not call them back. Had work so couldn't call then. Called just about an hour ago. Indian guy gets on the phone, tells me his name is Jeff Johnson with the IRS, and that I have 4 counts on my name for tax fraud and I owe them $5,885, and if I do not pay it today I will be sent to federal prison in Alaska. Then as he " transfers me over to his supervisor" I hung up. They call me back from a different number and it's the same guy trying to deepen his voice to sound different( I guess he's also the " supervisor")when I told him I would be reporting him to my local law enforcement he says " while you're at it go cry to your momma" and hung up. Do not fall for this stupid [***] people. Big scam!

IRS Scam:

The IRS does not need to sue anyone.  They also do not bother arresting people for a few thousand dollars.  They don’t send the local police or Sheriff to arrest you.  Everything they do is done either administratively or using Federal Agents.   They don’t call you up and demand immediate payment. If you are going to be arrested, they don’t call you up to warn you.  They only issue arrest warrants for people who are really bad actors and have tried to stick them for very large amounts of money, not a few hundred or thousand.  Administratively, they send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office.  Several of them.  Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for.  Again delivered by the Post Office.  Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own.  If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge?  The IRS does not accept payment in Itunes Cards, Amazon gift cards, or any other type of payment other than cash, check, credit or debit card (from normal everyday citizens). Note that the IRS has been mandated by Congress to use private debt collectors.  They are still obligated to send you letters prior to the calls from the debt collectors.  The debt collectors are obligated to follow all FDCPA laws to collect funds and they are not allowed to ask you for immediate payment over the phone.
