I was called by this number saying I resolved a federal grant.. I went and did the card because i had applied to a federal grant but now when I call back to get the reference numbers no one answers
It is a scam. They will ask you for money. You applied for a federal grant? Then you must have filled out tons and tons of paperwork detailing why you need the grant, what the grant money will be used for, etc. If you were to awarded a grant, they would have sent you a letter.
Grant scams:
The government does not call people up and offer them free money because you paid your taxes on time, have never been arrested, have paid all your bills, or whatever excuse they can make up. In order to get a grant you need a valid reason (not one of the above and not just because you need money), you have to fill out tons and tons of paperwork, wait a long time, and might not even get the grant in the end. If you are lucky enough to get the grant after all that paperwork, they do not ask you to pay taxes, transfer fees, or any other types of fees. Also, please note that the government would never ask you to pay these so called taxes or fees to some anonymous person using Western Union, Moneygram, or any of the cards such as iTunes cards which is a new favorite among foreign scammers.
