Ontario – The Ontario Limitation Act of 2002 , came into force on January 1, 2004. It sets 2 years as the term (Section 4). However, this limitation will be reinstated where the debtor acknowledges the debt or makes a partial payment towards the debt. If the debt default occurred prior to January 1, 2004, the creditor will have 6 years to pursue the claim. However, if the default occurred after January 1, 2004 then the credit will just have the 2 year limit.
It was some women working for a collection agency for CIBC. I would not confirm who I was. I have no debt with CIBC. They would not tell me their company name
Just spoke to Faraaz Ali who said he has an 8 year old debt of mine from CIBC for $7500.00. I have zero debts with CIBC and now I have to send a cease and desist letter or they won't stop calling. So weird.

OR you can get a call blocker app, device or phone ... that will stop calls from them, and many other irritating phone spammers.
If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:

Just got a call from this #, a woman, saying I have a debt with CIBC and to CONFIRM past and present addresses, I asked her to tell me which address she had, so I could CONFIRM, she obviously did not give me one, then I hang up. I am blocking this #, I do not have a debt with CIBC, I have not dealt with CIBC for over 20 years.
