I just received the phone call from this numbervtelling me that I committed tax fraud and the police will be picking me up soon. It was a man who cannot speak fluent in English. I just wondering how they get me number and name? Don't trust them. [***]!
A phone scam is going around the area where the caller claims to be from the Canada Revenue Agency - saying there is a warrant for your arrest due to fraudulent tax claims.
The phone number that appears on caller ID is 647-956-7099.
Sarnia Police Service has been made aware and states they have received multiple reports.
People should be especially aware of phishing scams asking for information such as credit card, bank account, and passport numbers. The CRA would never ask for this type information. Some of these scams ask for this personal information directly, and others refer the taxpayer to a Web site resembling the CRA's, where the person is asked to verify their identity by entering personal information.

I just received a call from 647-956-7099 telling me that I committed tax fraud and the police will be picking me up within 72 hours to arrest me. The girl i talked to was french and could not speak English very well, i asked to speak to her manager as this sounded crazy to me as I have never received any letters from the government. The call was transfered to a man claiming to be her supervisor and he told me that i was to listen to the girl and if i had any questions after i spoke to her then i could talk to him and he then transferred the call back to the woman i first talked to. She asked if i committed any crimes in the past and if i had any speeding tickets or parking tickets. Needless to say this conversation was very upsetting to me. If this is a joke it is a very mean one. It sounded like there was alot of noise in the background like a very busy office. I tried to call the CRA to see if this was legit but I could not get through so I decided to check out this number on the internet.
Scam! They just called me said I was going to be arrested for tax fraud. Didnt speak English well at all. These people are annoying. I hope no one falls for this.
