I have been getting calls for a few years - different persons when I answer and sometimes a machine message on answering machine. I have has the number for 32 years and never heard of the person they are asking about. Every time they say they will take my number off but it starts again. Really annoying.
This is the first time they have called using this number, i have their other number already blocked. They sent me a settlement offer $107 for 3 months to clear up a $800 debt, was considering it cause i need to clear up my credit..., but after reading some of these comments, i will just save my money and keep them on ignore cause i know this debt is over 6 yrs and they can't do anything else but "try" and not succeed!!!
Caller ID says Mountainview, California. Caller hung up when I answered the phone. Called back, recorded message from a gentleman who was obviously Indian, asking me to hold the line. I hung up.

Interestingly, my phone's Caller ID lists this number as belonging to "Tata Communications," which, according to Wikipedia, is based in Mumbai, India. Seems that the Northland Group has outsourced its collection calls to an Indian firm. How stupid does Northland think we are? Especially since they've been calling over my wife's seven-year-old debt to LA Weight Loss -- in spite of the fact that the debt is now legally time-barred, as Vermont's six-year statute of limitations to collect expired last December.
If the debt is past your state's statute of limitation to collect, send Northland -- or any other collector -- a cease-and-desist letter demanding that they stop contacting you and to cease all further attempts to collect, as the debt is now legally time-barred -- and that under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, they MUST comply with your demand, or else you will have grounds to sue them for harassment.
