We have Stanford alums in our family, but no message was left. We will contribute money directly and not through any phone call, in case these are hijacked numbers.
My kids are Stanford alums, so it seems legit. I always feel sorry for the students who make these calls. But anymore, I won't pledge money over the phone (or ever give out my credit card#), so they really should find other ways to solicit. Also, it is kind of late here, and they didn't leave a message. I wish they would so I wouldn't need to check here.
Yesterday evening I received a call from this number. When I said "Hello" I heard noise in the background but no response, so I hung up. I then checked "last incoming call" to get the number that had called. I am a Stanford grad and did many odd jobs as a student, but I never had to call alumni asking for donations. Moreover, I have no intentions of giving out information (let alone money) to ANYONE.... including Stanford students (legit or not) who call me on the phone. Bah !! Humbug!!
