They have called my work number several times, fortunately never my cell. Because the number is from the same metropolitan area as where I work (Minneapolis-St. Paul), that gave me reason to believe they're legit. They never speak. The most recent time, today, when I recognized the number, I decided not to answer. Naturally, they did not leave a message.
Scammers won't give you any information on what exactly their company does. Won't give a legitimate website. Has no corporate office. Uses different numbers to call multiple times per day. Also has a 1-866 number that they call from. Don't give them your name or any personal information!!!

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

This number calls my phone on a daily basis. No one ever talks. I can't get them to stop. They have a couple other numbers but mainly this one. Sometimes they just breath into the phone. It's really creepy and I can't seem to block them. It's really annoying and I do worry one day one of my kids will answer and someone will talk to them. Maybe I'm paranoid but I don't trust this number and wish it would stop. Just not answering hasn't slowed the calls down at all.
