I also had something for sale and iv been selling several things on craigslist and i got two people that have said they will send check blahblah ...how do they scam u tho does anyone no? Both the numbers were way out of state How can they scam u with just an address for check
What they do is send you a check that is way more than what you are asking for the item and say that their secretary made the mistake and when you deposit the very real looking check would you send them the difference. It will take the bank at least 3 days sometimes 2 weeks to figure out the check is a stolen or fake company check. by then you have already sent real money to the scammer. These guys are always on a mission or on a ship. some times they sell cars at very low prices and want you to send a deposit on the car and they promise to ship the car to you at no charge since they are in the military they can ship it free. Look if they cant talk to you on the phone at least ,DONT DEAL WITH THEM
another thing I tracked this number down by the prefix and its not even in this country. Craigslist wont even try to put a stop to this and it is all over their site everytime anyone list an item or vehicle for sale we have to deal with this crap. Clist SUCKS Use Ebay its free and scam free and very easy.and they do care about their listers.I cannot tell you how many times I have been a target of scammers on craigslist. It will happen everytime I list something. They are using the netbots and just fishing and man it must be working .
They send you a very real looking check for way over the amount you were asking for the item and ask you to send them some of the money back . Your bank taks 2 weeks to tell you that the check is stollen or a forgery by then the scamers have your money. dont deal with any one that wont talk to you on the phone and even then it could be a scam
