The caller continually calls a CELL PHONE number although cell phones are supposed to be off limits to telemarketers. There was a recorded message concerning the side effects of a drug sometimes used for type 2 diabetes treatment.
The Federal Trade Commission does allow mobile phone users to add their numbers to the National Do Not Call Registry (the same one already in force for home phones), by either registering online or calling 1-888-382-1222. It may not be necessary — per FCC regulations, telemarketers are already prohibited from using automatic dialers to call up mobile phones — but millions have signed up to ensure they're protected from unwanted calls, and so can you.
Received a call from this number on my office phone which did not leave a voicemail. I called back a few minutes later and received an automated response that they are WCA Services and do not recognize my number as a subscriber (calling from my office probably looked strange to their machine). This statement was followed up by instructions (press 1, wait, enter your number) to have your number removed from their database. It was all over in a few seconds.
I think they are auto-dialing numbers and my line came up. There was no sales pitch and no trick to being removed (other than a disclaimer after I followed instructions indicating it might be up to 7 days before my number was erased from their records) Caller ID was invented so you could screen your callers.
I get calls from this number and others close to it constantly. As I do not answer calls from unknown numbers without hearing a valid reason to via voicemail, I do not know what company my caller was from, but i assume it was the same company that you had all heard from. It is ridiculously annoying and I thought, apparently as well as others, that they could not place these calls to cell phone numbers. I guess I need to find a better do not call list.
Claims that I subscribed for their daily drawing... Not the kind of thing I ever do. My number is on the National Do not call list, but this seems to make absolutely no difference to these time wasting turds.
