Missed call, because I was talking to one of the "drug rehab" scam telemarketers. And I've had a merchant account scam telemarketer today, too. What a day.
Repeatedly calls my work line and when informed to remove the # they say "sorry" and hang up. This is a robo call. prompted to press a button to speak to someone or press a different button to be removed. neither of which have any real impact. i receive at least one call per week, same song and dance. same #
this number has called our home several times now and I have asked to be removed from the list. They say sorry for bothering you and hang up but they continue to call. Our number is registered on the do not call list. Apparently this does not keep them from calling.
Pre-record to cell on DNC. More "National Crisis" medical insurance scams, now calling themselves "Addiction Help Line".
Why do I think it's a scam? Because if you try to get information from them (web site, confirmation they are a non-profit, etc) they immediately hang up. However, they are very insistent asking for your insurance information. A legitimate organization would not hide themselves in this way.
Do not give them your medical insurance information, or any real information. Do give them a fake name, fake information, and try to drag the call out as long as possible. This will reduce the number of people they can scam and run them out of business. Be passive, as they will hang up the phone with even minor resistance, which I think is more evidence of their dishonesty.
