Just got a Fraud Call from someone that said they were with Dish Tech Support and the caller ID read 1800-333-Dish, they started by talking about the re-positioning of the satellite and needed to check my equipment for compatibility, this guy named Adam had me go in the system and retrieve the ID off the machine and asked me for my 4 digit security code and a couple other things before it hit me this could be a scam! After talking awhile, I handed my wife the phone and told her to keep him talking while I verified it was Dish. While she had the phone he confirmed that the equipment would not be compatible and they would need to send a tech out to change the equipment and that it was going to be $150 however they would credit the account $10 a month for the next 10 months to cover the cost. I was still on the phone with Dish and they came back and said it was a scammer and to not give them any information, I said it is too late I already did. We had to change our Security code and talk with the Fraud Dept. that put a lock on the account. The fraud department said, what they do is call us acting like it is you , order the new equipment and our Tech shows up to do the requested work but it will be later than their Fraudulent Tech shows up and by that time you have already let them in your home and they collect the money  (usually by check, cash or credit card that goes to a Western Union acct or somewhere) and it's all too late then, they have everything! The Fraudulent caller gave a call back number of 657-234-3474,,which last four numbers spell DISH at the end . These guys are good,,hope you don't get scammed, I almost did and they have a lot of info on me now. BEWARE and on your toes every time you answer the phone, don't give info to them, make them give info to you! Now that I think about it , if it had been dish they would already know my receiver # ,,I feel do stupid but at least I caught them half way through.
