The Do Not Call List is not a magical filter that will stop all unwanted calls from reaching your phone.  The DNC regulations exempt charities, political organizations and surveys that are not trying to sell you something.  Legitimate telemarketers are required to buy lists of DNC phone numbers from the FTC for each area of the US they want to call and they have to use those lists to purge their call lists of anyone that has signed up for the DNC List.

This means that even if you sign up for the DNC, you can still get legitimate calls from charities asking for donations, political organizations asking for money or a vote for their cause, and surveys asking for information.  (All in the name of protecting Free Speech.)

You can also get calls from illegitimate telemarketers, scammers and other criminals since they do not respect or follow the laws and see the DNC as just one more law to flaunt in their quest to separate you from your money.

The best tactic is to ignore any number you do not recognize.  If they feel it is important, they will leave a message and you can judge whether or not to call back.  If unwanted numbers call repeatedly, get a blocking device or application, preferably one that will not allow blocked calls to ring through.  Ignore the calls for charities; most of the outfits that call “on behalf of” charities are notorious for pocketing a large percentage of what they bring in (some over 90%).  Instead, call the charity you want to benefit and deal with them directly, that way more of your money will go to the cause you want to support.  The same for the political calls, if you feel strongly enough to support a cause or candidate call their offices directly so you know who you are really dealing with.  While a pure survey call is allowed under the DNC, using that as an excuse for a sales call (during the same call or later) is illegal.  Take care if you decide to participate in a survey; remember that you don’t really know who is on the other end of that phone, so you need to take care what information you give them.

When you do get an unwanted call (that is not exempted) do not forget to file a complaint with the FTC at https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx.  They need to be told who the violators are if they are going to build a case against them.

It is highly doubtful that your callers are reading here also. We can't stop anyone from calling you either or remove from a list.

Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.
