These Indians just keep calling from all spoofed numbers selling their fake drugs, Viagra, etc. What is their problem? They need to be more productive and do something constructive in their own country!
Caller called at 12:00 PM Eastern time and said that I was awarded $9000.00 and to get it I would have to send them $39.95 to receive it so I said take it out of the $9000.00 and send me the rest and then she hung up. "SCAM"
Had 2 calls this morning, one at 8am and another just after 9. Probably a scam. Do Not Call doesn't block because that's for legitimate callers - they actually check to see if numbers are on the list and remove those numbers. The folks calling from numbers like these are not.
Most of the calls I get are either from political or charitable organizations - which are legal and exempted from 'Do Not Call' restrictions, and most of whom actually do stop calling after I request to be taken off their lists - or from this type of scammer. In fact, the number being shown may not even be the real number - I think it's possible to rig things so a different number shows up on Caller ID from the one the caller is actually using.
So if you don't recognize the number, ignore it. Someone you know and who has legitimate business with you will leave a message. If there is a caller ID, google it and find out who it really is. Then call back if you think it's not a scam and request to be removed from their list. If they refuse or are not legit, file a complaint. Stuff you post here is good for venting and helps others decide if it's a scam or not but doesn't get to anyone who matters. If it's your cell phone, you can have your carrier block all calls and texts that originate with an IP address - gets rid of computer-generated calls and texts at least. Worked well for me a few years ago - was getting hundreds of texts selling Viagra and all kinds of stuff. That stopped and has never occurred again.
