Frustrated in AR
My husband and I keep getting calls from this number and others similar posing to be from a law office. The man from this number actually claimed to be Officer Jack Smith. He said something really bad would happen if we didn't call back. When we first started receiving the calls we called back and they were trying to get us to send $600 of a $1900 bad debt on gift cards. They said it was a payday loan that we defaulted on. They could not provide us with any account numbers or the name of the company we received the loan from and also became very angry with us for asking questions. We told them we would not be paying any money without a statement or some kind of information we could verify as we had never taken out a payday loan. They said that they would see us in court and that we would be served papers that next week. Needless to say it's been several weeks since the first call and we've yet to receive any papers. I just wish they would give up and quit calling already. The strangest part is that all of these people barely speak English, are reading from a script that they seem to hardly understand, and they have extremely common American names.

furious in Arkansas!!
This has been the second time I've gotten a call from something similar to this threatening that I will go to jail if I don't agree to pay back loan money the EasyCashAdvance, which I have NEVER taken a loan from! He told me that if I was really to resolve the issue today that I would not have to appear in court nor would I have to worry about my social security number suffering or suffering fron something with the mortgage. It would have been easier to understand if he spoke clearer, better English! I don't k ow if I need to go to the police or what Bc they know all of my personal information...address, everything! I told him I would go to court Bc I haven't received any money from any type of loan! Then he had the nerve to tell me that since I'M young it would be ashame to spend time in jail!

I am getting calls from the fake police officers as well.  I have also had money taken from my account by companies that I didn't take a loan from.  Be sure to check your accounts, all of you!  I am not sure what to do about this but it is upsetting and I want it to stop.  Any help?

Got a a call at 630 this morning and threatening from an Officer "with a complaint."  This was an alternate phone number given as part of an online payday advance loan - it was given as a contact on the online application- they have been calling from different numbers- calling relatives and calling my workplace saying that there is a complaint against me in Orange County.  They have heavy chinese or indian accents and start swearing at you without provocation. I told them they were being recorded and reported and I put the call on speakerphone. They started to reference my social security number to sound "official."  I hear that these harrassers are offshore and that is why the government hasn't been able to do anything about it yet. I thought it was an emergency this morning regarding our child- who has part custody with another parent- was worried about a car accident or something. This is deefinitely a litigable offense- making threats on the phone regarding a non existent complaint and impersonating law officers.  Just fyi I didn't take the loan and they are calling two months later every chance they get all hours using different names, cities and phone numbers (using a magic jack, other people have stated.)  Spam any emails and block these numbers on your phone- I hear this goes on for years.  Report this to the 3 credit bureaus and put an alert on your credit report.  Watch for any mystery deposits or withdrawals from your bank account.  They are looking to bully you into giving them $- don't consent to anything!

Furious in Arkansas-

EasyCashAdvance sounds familiar to me, too- I think I may have also filled out that online application- it requires all your info (social security #, work contact #- they call me at work constantly, and the application requires a reference - I put my husband's # for this and now he is getting calls every day) this could be the link to these people....

Caveat:  they could just be using the Easy Cash Advance name and have no connection since everything they tell you about themselves changes and appears to be a lie....
