Received a call claiming to need to send me a court summons to a 4 yr old address. When I called back the man by the name of "Miles Anthony" claimed I owed $1208.48 on a $200 old Master card that was closed 4 years ago. I told him I wanted it in writing and I was only calling back to make sure they had my correct address to send me the documentation. He became irrate and claimed that they have the right to ask for the amount and if I want to go to court then that will cost more, then proceeded to read off other old debts from years ago that I owed at one time as well as old addresses I no longer lived at. I informed him that I still want everything in writting and I'm willing to go to court to get it, but I will not make any payment arrangments over the phone to a strange company. He said "fine since I think I know so much about my rights, we'll just go to court" I agreed and hung up. I searched for the company name ABA and the phone numbers and found they don't exist, are a basement intimidation style collections agency who uses old small debts and intimdation to try to retrieve exasterbated fees from people by threatening court. They refuse to send documentation and give you the run around as long as possible. They'll probably be ran under 3 different names before I press reply. Very shadey business indeed.
