Scam call concerning 2010 taxes. Woman with heavy accent that was difficult to understand said I owed $6930. I read her the fraud alert concerning the department of treasury affairs that she said she was representing. She said I am going to get arrested and spend 6 months in jail. Sadly I enjoy giving these scumbags a hard time.
Call from officer somebody, in a clearly American accent, said the same threats as above and I was to call back this phone #. I have had maybe 8 calls like this during the past 8-10 months threatening arrest, etc, from various phone #'s. I'm getting more than a little tired of it. I wish there was some form of retaliation for this type of thing. There are vulnerable elderly people who may fall for this crap and give up their life savings! How sad!
I played the game with them. I broke the woman down. She admitted it was a scam. She said she was in Pakistan and just trying to make a living. She told me I owed $2200. And she would get $1000 if she collected. I tried to get their bank information but they want you to put the money on a prepaid card. She said she would hold while I drove to CVS and got a prepaid card. The person on the phone just thinks they have a normal job. We talked for 20 minutes and then she said she had to go. I had fun messing with them. I did forward all of the information to the phishing email at the IRS. They probably wont do anything but my insight into what is going on here makes me sick. Do Americans really fall for this?
Got a call from Dan Miller about IRS liability. Called back and spoke with female with Indian accent who said Homeland Security was going to arrest me today unless I went to Walmart and wired money to resolve issue. Omg Homeland Security needs to work these guys over.
IRS will never contact you by phone. These poor [***] just prey on the folks who don't know better.
