My father in law received a call from someone asking for my husband. He called back and the person who answered stated "AT&T" when she answered the call. He was supposed to talk to "Kim" and was transferred. She said she needed some information from him to verify she was talking to the correct person. He declined to provide information and asked what it was she wanted. She said she was calling to help get him out of debt with his student loans. At that time he hung up on her. Sounds completely bogus because the company his student loans are through would not employ this method of collection. BEWARE!!!
Just received a call from them, also someone named Kim. She claimed that they were trying to work through a matter with my ex husband and have been sending him paperwork. We've been divorced 2 years, he's not at this addr for nearly 3. My (not his) cell number. Suspect it is a collection agency working with dept of education on trying to collect his defaulted student loans. I told her to take my name off and that I have no idea where he is, how to contact him or why my personal cell number is linked with his data.
These people not only called my personal cell again twice on 3/17 but also called my parents' home number in another state (WTF?!). It is clear that whoever this company is they are trying to find people for collections by trolling and connecting random land records and going through people's extended families. My ex has not been in contact with them for almost two years before we divorced making it nearly five years now. I am livid that these idiots are disturbing strangers and asking accusatory questions about someone who really hurt our family. Filing a formal complaint as soon as possible.
The caller shows up on caller ID as account control This is a credit collector. she is calling me and harassing me on my work number and putting my job in jeopardy. She is harassing me over a bill I don't owe. There should be a law against people getting you in trouble at work.
Call from Kim stating she needed to speak with me on a personal business matter and aske for personal info which i did not give them. Sounds like identity theft waiting to happen.
