I was just called by the same obvious fraud. I am now reporting them to the FTC Consumer Complaint line. That FTC Consumer Complaint line is 1-877-382-4357
received a call, allegedly from this number (but obviously a "spoof"). Some character with an accent so pronounced I could hardly understand him. He stated something to the effect that my computer was sending signals to ?? Just so happens that I was ON my computer at the time, and neither the computer nor me was sending anything to anybody (surprise, surprise). I told him in no uncertain terms what he was full of, and hung up. Then, I come on here, and above my post is a big ad for "...nation's top 3 debt consolidation comapnies..." I wonder what a "comapnies" is - maybe the 2 are related?
What appears in an ad is mostly random when no posts have been made to a particular number thread.
And the ad you saw is definitely one to never click on, as the stupidity of the advertiser and the ad agency that accepted the ad is profound.
I did not answer and there was no message. But I did a reverse lookup on it and found some comments (such as above). How do keep these numbers from calling? I have been on the National Do Not Call Registry for YEARS and have a message saying if you are a solicitor, please hang up, that this number does not accept calls from solicitors... Very annoying. I wish these people would do something else with their time that is actually beneficial instead of irritating or worse.
It was one of those creeps "from Microsoft" who are so kindly calling to tell me that my computer has a virus... Apparently some people are still falling for that old ruse, or they would stop trying it... It is a SCAMMER pure and simple. I don't usually answer unknown calls, but was expecting a call and grabbed it without looking at ID...
