No message; Caller ID is Americares. However, I've never been able to figure out if the number is a scam number--and not really representing the charity that shows up on CallerID--or if somehow a charity like Americares has made the grave mistake of signing up with some entity that claims it will increase their donations, something I would regard as a “charity mill.” Because I keep a computer Word file of spam calls received, I could go back and note that in 2013, 2015, and 2016, the FIRST 6 DIDGITS of this number are the same for all the calls I received from Nature Conservancy, Oxfam, and UCS. I had had to block the variations of those 3 back then, and will do so for 2611 if they call again.
Having your number on the DNC list will not stop calls on behalf of charities, surveys, debt collectors or political organizations. None of those groups are required to honor the DNC list and in fact cannot even register for access to remove numbers found there if they wanted to. The DNC list applies ONLY to callers selling goods or services and honest companies do register for access and remove numbers found there. Exempt callers such as your charity solicitor are required to place you on their internal Do Not Call list when you request but only for that charity. If the same call center handles multiple charities, you have to ask not to be called for each one as they call you.
I too have these calls after signing a petition on Care2. You will end up with multiple new e-mail "spam" from doing the same. Sometimes there is a box at the bottom of the petition stating whether or not you are interested in "subscribing" but often there is not. I wish Care2 would take better care of THIS situation. But..then again...Care2 needs to "earn" it's ability to stay online somehow and I do wish they would invest in cleaning up their many program "glitches". Ahhhh Care2...you gotta love it or else you would leave it. LoL
