What does it say about a government that cannot manage a "do not call" list? I have a 90 year old widow living across the she is frightened by these people. Enough is enough.
Prerecord to home phone on DNC list. It was a "Rachel" from Card Services, but they used a different name. So, of course I pressed '1'. I was placed in a call queue, and was surprised that it told me I was caller 80 in queue. I like to waste telemarketer time as much as anyone, but it's not productive to sit on hold for a long time waiting to mess with a human. Quickly, however, the announcement told me I was call 73, 66, 61, .. and pretty rapidly I was the next call. Quite a bit of churn there in the call queue. Call was answered and someone asked if I had more than $2,000 in credit card debt. I stated I did, and then she hung up on me.
Hopefully, the call queue was full of people telling them to never call, yell, etc to the point they actually hang up on potential prospects, saving gullible people from being scammed. Given how fast the call queue went from 80 to me being the next call doesn't indicate that there's a lot of actual discussion with people thinking they can really get their interest rate lowered. Keep answering, the call that doesn't get through could be someone grandmother.
