They've called me four times (wit no messages) and today I finally answered --they said they had legal docs for me to sign for but wouldn't tell what they pertained to and then inferred it was some kind of judgement. I had tried to call back but the number just rings and rings.
This is a total SCAM! I had a similar inquiry 5 - 7 years ago stating this exact same thing. Unfortunately at that time I caved due to the urgency they made of the situation. They said I had 24hrs (or something to that nature) to pay $$ (I can’t remember the exact amount... somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 - $600 if I recall correctly) in order to avoid the legal procedures from taking place. So, I reluctantly paid the amount requested (of a debt I couldn’t confirm), and had to fax a letter of apology to them as well. They were supposed to send an email confirmation documenting the entire ordeal, but of course that never happened.
Here’s the catch, 6 months to a year later they tried the same thing. Whether it was because it had worked on me previously (being a sucker) or because they don’t keep records well and accidently contacted the same person, is anyone’s guess. This time I questioned everything and instructed them that I would need documentation sent via email in order to properly review this debt accusation. When they said that is not how their process works, I informed them to do whatever they needed to do, and that I would be awaiting these supposed summing papers, legal proceedings, court fees, and fines. Needless to say, that was the last I heard of them… until 2 days ago!!
I am on here now as a warning to all… please do your due diligence, and research before handing out a payment of any kind (which I’m sure goes without saying).
In addition, does anyone know of a way to get this scam resolved, legally? I would think that they should be held accountable for the unethical means by which they pray on individuals. I understand that in my case the letter I sent is my consent to the payment, but you would think that being this looks to have been exposed as a full blown scam, it should qualify for some sort of legal action towards them… one would think, that is.
