I received a voicemail message on my cell phone from a woman who almost sounded somewhat professional but the context of her message was not professional. She said that she was calling from the fraud department (they need to be more creative); and that me or my attorney must call them back that day as a claim as been placed against me. I called back and I got a man who said "please hold" right away. I hung up and called again and got a woman. I asked her who she was and she hung up. I called back again and got the same woman and I told her to take my name off her little list and she hung up. This is MOST DEFINITELY A SCAM which I knew from the beginning but wanted to give them a hard time. Do not waste your time with these people.
Rebecca Crosby scam. Old Becka is at it again. Sometimes goes by the name of “ Rebecca Outlaw”, a well-known debt scammer persona. Could be part of the old “govern yourself accordingly” scam with Rebecca Outlaw.
Other sites indicate this "Rebecca" persona most often calls representing herself as from the "fraud division".
Fraud is a crime. Crimes are prosecuted by public prosecutors. Debt collectors have nothing to do with the criminal justice system. Being in ordinary civil debt is NOT a crime and you cannot be prosecuted for it.
We do not have debtors prisons in the US.
