Same here in Wisconsin same number call came from Georgia check fraud blah blah I smelt the bs before I even answered ladies name was "ava gold" I called their bluff and asked how do you practice law in Wisconsin when your law firm is in Georgia?

I received one also in Maryland. Talking about some case that was filed against me. I knew it was B'S too. I had received another call a month ago saying they're filing charges at the sheriff's office at an address that's not even the sheriff's office. It's the police station I work out of. So they just looked online to try and get an address and it was the wrong address. Watch out for there scammers

Received a phone call recently saying I was going to receive a felony charge if I didn't pay $2900 from an old bank. Called the banks corporate office and they're not affiliated with this number.

Received a call from this number saying I committed bank fraud!  I took a cash advance and closed my bank account.....so full of it! Told me I actually walked into a cash advance place in 2004...I didn't even know those places exist....secondly if I did that I told her the statue of limitAtimns would be up because that was 11 years ago duuuuuuuh

Even if the statute of limitations is up, that only means a creditor cannot use the courts to force you to repay.  They are still allowed to attempt collection.

However, this caller is in violation of the FDCPA for falsely claiming you committed bank fraud and is likely an overseas scam operation trying to scare you into paying something you do not actually owe.  Just in case they may have your personal information, you may want to contact the three credit bureaus and place fraud alerts on your social security number.
