Got a call on Sunday evening at about 6 pm. Foreign, possibly Indian or Pakistani accent, claimed to be from Microsoft tech support. Claimed that my wife's computer was sending out error codes. Having heard about this scam, I told him to stop right there, I knew he was B/S-ing me, I knew it was a scam, and did not have time for it. He promptly hung up.
I wish the FCC, FTC, NSA, or some three-letter government agency would clamp down on these abusive, invasive, obnoxious would-be info thieves. I tried going the FCC route, and was told that it really wasn't their jurisdiction. They suggested the FTC. Who, exactly, can put a stop to these bottom-feeders?
The person said that he works for Windows. He said that he detected hackers trying to use my email address, and asked if I'm at the computer. I asked why should I trust him, maybe he is a hacker. He gave me phone number to Windows Customer Service to check 909 713 7131.

I received a call from this number at work and a very heavily accented male introduced himself as a tech support for windows. He stated my computer was sending out error messages. I informed him, as I have heard of this bull before, that I DID NOT own a computer. He asked, "Oh what do you own?". I said a tv. He then said it is a big one? I said no, just a small one. He then asked if it was lovely. I could see where this conversation was going, and I hung up! Rude no good people in this world!
Just received a call from this number. Same thing as above. Said he wanted me to go into my computer with him and he'd show me that it was being "hacked." Microsoft needs to put out a statement regarding these calls. Glad I didn't fall for it.
Called a few minutes ago with some BS about his company is receiving messages that I am getting malware. Wanted me to go to my computer and let him show me. Did this a few months back and what they do, after stating they are a " Tech Partner" with Microsoft, they take over your computer, with your permission, then show you a site that is receiving multiple attacks. I fell for it then and it cost me. I asked my computer tech about this and what they show you is a common happening and if you are not aware of it then they tell you that their tech can fix it. They actually told me their tech was in Portugal. After he "fixed" it they wanted to charge me for the technical support. Today I asked, what site was I in that sent you messages. He wouldn't say, then I told him I would contact Microsoft if they told me I was having a problem. He kept trying to get me to "understand" but I just let him talk without answering till he finally hung up. I guess as I fell for it once I am on some body's "dumbass" list so will just talk to them so they are wasting their time.
