Called claiming to be a representative from the hospital trying to get information about the recent motor vehicle accident. ALL of the information they were requesting was provided to the hospital upon admission from the work related injury. There was no motor vehicle involved, and if they really worked for the hospital, they would have had the correct info to begin with. Watch out for theses bottom feeding scum suckers.

Hi. I would just like to correct the misinformation you are giving to the public. Sometimes hospitals outsource their billing department to other companies. ACI handles any bills that should be payed by car insurance, workers comp insurance, and some general liability insurance (i.e. slips and falls in Walmart). Laws for these situations are different than the ones governing general healthcare claims through your healthcare insurance so ACI helps simplify the process to get accounts paid quickly and in full. ACI NEVER collects (or tries to collect) money from the patient. They only call people to get open claims information so that bill is paid to the hospital by the insurance companies. It is especially important for workers comp patients to cooperate, otherwise they could be held responsible for a hospital bill that should otherwise be taken care of by the employers workers compensation insurance. If someone is injured in an auto accident, ACI investigates who is at fault and helps the patient open claims through the responsible insurance carrier. ACI CANNOT open claims on behalf of the patient. This is the responsibility of the patient and it goes for both auto and workers comp. Once a claim is open, ACI helps make sure the hospital accounts get paid. In some states, healthcare WILL NOT pay for auto related injuries until it is verified that an auto insurance policy won't cover some or all of the bill. ACI helps the hospital get the appropriate documentation to bill healthcare if this is the situation.
A lot of people become nervous because personal information has to be verified before information about the nature of the call can be revealed. This is due to strict laws that protect every patient's healthcare information. Look up HIPPA laws.
In regards to your specific situation, the representative has to verify the information taken by the hospital staff. This is just usually for cases when the patient couldn't be seen at the time of admission for whatever reason, because ACI does have staff in hospitals.  If your accident was work related and not auto, then it was probably just coded incorrectly and routed to the wrong department.

I was a little confused about this call at first but my Doctor did hire this company for their billing. They just wanted to confirm information about my Workers Comp injury date and confirm who they send the bills to. They DID NOT ask for any of my personal information. They were very pleasant and easy to work with.

Actually, you are misinformed. Hospitals usually have to hire a 3rd party to do their billing for certain things like car accidents or worker's compensation because those bills don't necessary go to healthcare right away. Accelerated Claims is that company that hospitals hire. A lot of the info given to hospitals doesn't get transferred correctly or right away into ACI's system, and info also has to be verified. This company actually helps bills get paid for the patients. Just so you know. K thanks.
