This is a scam out of Vegas. They search public records and call newly married people and offer to send them their marriage certificate for a feel. I'm sure people order without even thinking, but if you tell them you already have your they claim the one you were given at the chapel is just a souvenir. I was wondering why the minister told us "people will claim this is a souvenir, but it's not". I thought she was just being funny, but I realize now there's a scam to get people to order "real" certificates. Don't give these people anything, report them, and if you really want a copy of your certificate contact the Nevada state department.
Contacted the County Clerk's office Marriage Services Division in Las Vegas at 702-671-0580 to ask why I was getting a call from a records department. She stated it was likely a scam. There was no person affiliated with their office and that it was likely to just get us to buy unnecessary certificates. We were to only send in our $10 with the form they gave us and the certified copy of our marriage would be sent to us just as the clerk had explained the day we visited their office. Don't be scammed..

i don't think this is a scam, they did call me this year and they did what they said they were gonna do. to be honest with you, i sent in for our certificates through the proper channels for the $20.00 abstract/original
documents and it took forever to get our certificates! i was apprehensive @ 1st when they quoted their price. after waiting over two and a half months for the county to send our docs to us? my wife was eager to have her vitals changed and i could'nt get on the car insurance that she was affilliated with. bottom line? it took them 3 days to deliver our certs. i also ask the state of nevada, if they were doing something ilegal? and their reply was " no what is public records is public records, and until the law changes, no one is breaking our laws. satisfied customer.
The certificate that you're given at the time of your wedding IS a souvenir. Let me guess... you were married by Bettie Rainey @ Chapel of the Bells right? May I suggest that you call the Clark County Recorder's office and ask THEM whether or not that certificate is a legal document.
