Received a voicemail from a Mike Davis stating a complaint had been filed against me and was forwarded to his company although he did not indicate what company he was calling from. He left a reference number for my file. I called and was put on hold for awhile so I hung up. Shortly after, I received a call from 702-854-2682 which I answered. I don't remember the man's name but he said he was calling from Pierce & Associates and stated before he could give me any information on the legal proceedings or my account I had to verify the last 4 digits of SSN. That's when I hung up on him.

Yeah, the "complaint" scam. Since he talked to you, he must now do this, but I doubt he will:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
