What is the reason you keep on calling me?Are you recruting people right now, or do you just like bothering people. So the next time you call, talk about training,or stop calling me [***]!
If you pick up the phone when it is "RINGING", it will more than likely be a collection agency on the other end looking for any kind of info to connect you to an account or create one. If you see the number on your caller ID and "CALL THE NUMBER", you will actually connect to the actual party that the number was assigned to.
It's called phone spoofing. This is mostly done by collection agencies. They pretend to be someone else and getting enough info from you to create an account. Next thing you will get is a paper threat to pay something in full or go to court. Some of us have been dealing with these bottom feeders for months and years. We have programs that track and trace these numbers and then match them to the time and dates with the phone company. None have matched the actual caller. They also spoof themselves as your neighbors. Advice: take your bill or some proof to the phone provider and have them trace. If you owe money or have ever in the past, you can bet places like these will be faking themselves as someone else to get the data they need. Make note that these collection agencies can get a lot of info on people by accessing credit reports. Type:"phone spoofing" in your browser or here's a site for a start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing . Everyone should be aware of these activities for their own protection. Also see: "predictive dialers" and "VOIP".
Note: Known collection agencies that were tracked: NCO Financial Systems, Law Offices of Joe Pezzuto - Collect America, Cavalry Portfolio, Southwest Credit, Lowery Law Group-CACV and Portfolio Recovery Services.
We received a call from this "Market Research Firm" with caller id of the number 703-291-9031, asking about vaccinations for kids between 2 months and 23 months, particularly focused on HIB. They asked if we had any cell phones in the household, my child's date of birth and wanted permission to access my child's medical records.
Since I have no idea why cell phone information would be relevant, I certainly did not want to release medical information and I know for certain the vaccine manufacturers receive reports from hospitals and medical practitioners about the vaccines given, I thought this suspicious.
After ending the call, I called the number back, it was a generic message that identified the company as "Our Market Research Firm" based in San Diego, CA and registered with the BBB then gave an option to press # for more assistance and then hung up. I tried to press # but it just hangs up.
I question this company as a legitimate firm. I highly recommend anyone receiving a call from these people not to give out their personal information.
Received several calls from this # but I don't answer because I don't know who it is. It just says "Research Center" for the caller ID. They've called several times.
Two calls in two days. Missed both--unintentionally. No message left. Googled to find where the area code is from and came across this site. Will probably continue to not answer this call based on what I've read.
