Even knew my first and last name. All I can say is, I sure will be spending many,many years behind bars with all that I owe the IRS!!!!! I'm old but not stupid!!! This last time two calls within about four hours. A woman & then a man. Please close them ALL down. So tired of all these scams!!!
Received a call from this number stating I owed tax money to the US government and I would be facing a warrant for my arrest if I did not call this number immediately to make a payment.
ditto... the actual caller id is 800 829 1040 - the IRS central helpline. The message (spoken with a strong Indian accent) tells you to call this number - 703 542 1705. It's some kind of scam.
Since so many people have been made aware of the fake IRS agent scammers demanding money or you will be arrested, it seems they have taken to spoofing the real IRS helpline number to try and legitimize their scam. Regardless of what the caller ID displays, the IRS does not initiate action via phone call and only calls back if you call them or are already working with them. In addition, calls will not show the IRS helpline number which does not make outbound calls.
HAD THE "IRS" CALL--HEAVY INDIAN ACCENT--"SHERIFFS ARE COMING TO ARREST US:"--OMG--THE POOR "OLDSTER" WHO BELIEVES THIS. TOLD US TO CALL 703-542-1705. MY HUSB JUST TURNED 65---IT THIS CALL AIMED @ THE M'CARE POPULATION??? CALLING IT FROM WORK AS I TYPE......LET IT RING 20 TIMES---NO ANSWER--WAIT--RECORDED VOICE SAYS "YOUR PARTY IS NOT AVAILABLE @ THIS TIME--YOU ARE BEING DISCONNECTED"----DON'T BAD GUYS HAVE ANS MACHS?
