They call my work no. said I'm in trouble with IRS for some back taxes I owed. He call himself as: Officer Daniel White and I must call him back asap (heavy Indian accent). Ofcourse I did, and some due answer ask for my name so he can check me off his list. I ask for his batch id, department/branch that he work at, he disconnect. My husband work for the IRS, if i was in trouble with taxes, he would be the first to let me know. This scam have been around for years now, it started in CA, with different area code. I think we should all call back 703-542-1723 just to annoy them and may possible close down this no. common folks, let have some fun on their account. why be a victim.
Left message on phone machine, in broken English, that he was calling to collect a debt before we get arrested. We don't owe anyone money, it's a scam.
This is yet another Foreigner breaking the laws of our Nation by posing as an IRS agent. They want your money and nothing more. The 'Call Type' drop-down list below should have a category for thieves although I guess 'Telemarketers' could be put in that category as most of the calls I get today are from telemarketing scum scamming the American public.
Asian accent, saying he was from the IRS, and he had been trying to get in touch with me for non payment of income tax. He said he needed to speak with me right away, before a warrent was issued for my arrest. He said he was Officer Daniel White. I tried to call back, but by that time, it was late on the east coast. So I waited to call the next morning. I thought I should tell him that impersonating an officer is a federal offense, and that the IRS wouldn't call your home. If they needed to reach you, they would send out a letter to your home. First time I called the next day, nobody answered. The second time, it just never rang. I was kind of bummed, because I wanted to see what this guys comeback would be. My dad said I should inform them I've turned this over to the FBI, including this phone number, and see what they say. I read how someone pretty much challenged them, and the person started cussing back at them. I guess they don't like it when people don't fall for it. LOL
Yea right, IRS. They do not contact by phone. Email Tom Wheeler the Chariman of the FCC at tom.wheeler.fcc.ogr and you will receive a form to complete. Here is the response I received from him:
Thank you for your e-mail to Chairman Tom Wheeler regarding a telephone scam.
While there are many legitimate companies that use the telephone for marketing, consumers and business lose millions of dollars to telemarketing fraud each year. It's sometimes hard to tell the difference between reputable telemarketers and criminals who use the phone to rob people. You can protect yourself by learning how to recognize the danger signs of fraud. If you are a victim or attempted victim of telemarketing fraud, it's important to report the scam quickly so that law enforcement agencies can shut the fraudulent operation down.
Some of the various telemarketing scams are:
-Government Grants - Nigerian Money
-Loan Applications -Business Opportunities
-Fake Check Scams -Credit Card Loss Protection
Remember: The government doesn't telephone people offering money. Most credit card companies offer loss protection for free. Offers of business opportunities that are too good to be true usually are. Fake Check Scam is similar to Nigerian scam- callers are offering to pay for something you are selling via a third party because they are in another country or they are in another country and need an advance, etc.
You can file complaints about various scams with the FTC or your state Attorney General or consumer protection agency. For information on how to file complaints with the FTC, visit the FTC Web site at www.ftc.gov or call toll free at 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261.

You may want to put a fraud alert on your credit report if you feel they are trying to steal your identity.
Victims of identity theft may contact the fraud departments of the three major credit bureaus, report the theft and ask that a "fraud alert" be placed on their file and that no new credit be granted without their approval:
Equifax: 1.800.525.6285
Experian: 1.888.397.3742
Trans Union: 1.800.680.7289
Contact you're bank to make them aware there is a scam. Also, contact your local law enforcement regarding the threats and notify your local newspaper so they can get the word out to other consumers that there is a scam in your area.
