Just got a call from this number to let me know that the IRS is going to file a criminal tax evasion case in the courthouse and the name of my attorney. The supposed IRS agent (with a foreign accent) gave me his name (Michael Black) and badge ID number to make it realistic, I told him I don't have an attorney and that I need to get one. He gave me the same phone number to call back to find out the details on my case. Then I called a tax attorney from the web. They said that the IRS never calls people, they send notices in the may. Told me to google the number to find out if it is a scam. Based on the comments on this site, it looks like a scam.
This guy sounds so authentic, gives name, badge, employee, case, and arrest warrant I D numbers. Gives years of tax evasion and deception and lists charges and says an officer will be there in one hour if you don't cooperate. Also says don't tell anyone or you cannot participate in offer in compromise program. Sounds like Saudi accent. Has called back four times, won't be suckered again.
I was suspicious immediately because he used my previous name, it was changed 6 years ago. I said 'she' was not in, but that I would take a message, he stated a lawsuit is being filed against me by the government. Few tell you the nature of a call for someone else. He even asked me to repeat the number back to him, which I only wrote down so I could google it. He said his name was 'Deputy Julian Marshall' , not at all believable, but irritating none the less
My daughter got a call from 703-659-2156
I called it back and got a women with an Indian accent who had my name and address, said I had tax crimes filed against me. When I asked if she was affiliated with the IRS she hung up. I called back and asked for her and she started yelling at me and hung up again!
