This is a total scammer. They tried to get my wife to pay them $14,393 in unpaid taxes on the phone or a sheriff would arrest her in 45 minutes. I asked them to send me info so I could consult with my accountant and lawyer, then they hung up and went away.
This number called me and I heard nothing when I said hello. A few seconds later a plaintive woman's recorded voice said "Good Bye" How annoying is this???
I recommend signing any petitions that are out there to outlaw all robo and telemarketer calls.
Just received a phone call from this number. Beginning part is cut off but it resumes at police dept asking me to return call or have my attorney call. I assume this is another scam.
This is a scammer pretending to be the IRS. If you try to call back they will answer "IRS" The Treasury Dept. requires any Agent/Employee answereing their phones must use the Agency'sr full ID, "Internal Revenue Service" Plus their name and identifcation number. The person answereing will ask for your "Case" number from the letter you received. If you did not
receive a letter prior to any call, the call is a scam. No exceptions.

•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
