Thank you for the messages above… Got this call but did not answer it… I did stay at a Hampton Inn just 3 days ago in Virginia where this call is coming from. If as many of your report this is a sales call, wether legit or scam it irritates me that my phone number has been shared by the IHG® membership group!!
I had a call from 703-857-9966. She knew my name and that I was an IH (Holiday Inn) member and wanted to do a survey, which I did. She then said that as I had never received an incentive, I could get a complimentary hotel stay, so she transferred me to another person who offered a stay of 4 nights at a luxury hotel of my choosing out of 6 locations for $199, and I would get $100 back so it would only cost me $99. I said I couldn't decide right now. She then gave me a better offer- I would get all $199 back, and I would get a credit of $100 towards a stay at any Holiday Inn. She could offer no alternative to paying $199 by credit card now on the phone and I kept saying I couldn't decide now and she kept asking why, I was missing out, until eventually she gave up and ended the call. This is either a very strange promotion by Holiday Inn or a scam, I think it's probably a scam- don't go along with it.
Notify Holiday Inn of this call. They need to know fraudsters might have member numbers, and might have to cancel your current member number and issue you another one.
A so-called survey which turns into a cold sales pitch is not exempt from DNCR coverage and violates the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Such a call made cold by autodialer to a mobile phone is a TCPA violation. It's a different question if Holiday Inn had already obtained your express consent to spray sales calls at you.
