Lovely.  Another scam call.  My adult son has vanished on us, and our last known trail for him led to North Carolina - which is what showed up on my caller ID when this call came through. My heart leapt, thinking it might be him finally calling to tell me he was ok and what was going on with him.  Then it sank when I answered and received nothing but silence - and I looked up the number here to find it's nothng but a scam.  Thanks a lot to these a-holes for giving this worried mom false hope.

Lot of static on the line, then some guy pops up & says hello Joel! Like he knows who he is calling. Get this call at least once a month.

Received a call from this number today and the person on the other end had static and the caller presented themselves as "Johnny."   He represented "Home Improvements" and made claims that I my information was selected for a free window installation estimate.  I had a call similar to this literally about a year ago.  The first time I addressed it with more intrigue on what they were fishing for, so I led them on slowly that I could perform these things that they were soliciting.  Didn't hear from them since I suppose, up until today.  So far I know that there is a male and female voice on the other end, even though they're scripting themselves to the end about this window installation estimate nonsense.

I've had it with my information being sold to companies and other entities as it allows it to be taken by anyone who is capable of finding it.  Once they have a puzzle piece, they request the others.  Do not comply with these people, I retorted with rash sounding inquiries about how they get my information.  The phone hung up.  I was peeved, my work day was just starting and I just made it onto the 290 E exit ramp.  So I redialed.  The phone rang briefly and a woman responded this time.  I was making my points in frustration and I was trying to make them clear.  There is clearly no other way to defend yourself other than making it clear and obvious that you're irritated by people who feast off of other people's earnings.  My father's identity had been stolen, so when people reach out to my name and want more information it only makes me think of the possible consequences.

My suggestion, ignore it.  If you're willing to take that risk of them calling you again.  The first time I was polite, but to try and fool me twice was truly a spectacle.

My other suggestion, the first time they call answer and deal with the situation as you should allow them to.  They already have your number, humor it.  When it gets to a certain point, you raise some question about how they obtained your information and see what happens.  Likely that they'll give a crap answer or hang up.  Now this is phase 2, you redial and berate the human being on the other line after they've had a chance to say their script.  They're trying to push you with a Shepard stick while you bleet unconsciously.  Let them know you're more like a sheep covered wolf, which is a bit more aggressive.  If these people are afraid to dial your number, then that would be great?  Although they could, call again in a year; You'd have to ensure that you know who you're about to engage with when you're picking up the phone.

P.S.  I had another encounter in between the first time this "free window installation estimate" and today.  The scam they were going with was with my Comcast information.  Not just my phone number, but my account # and probably some other loose information more than likely.  They made claims about late payments or an account owing money.  I reacted rationally, hung up and checked all of my bills and whatnot and I hadn't missed any payments.  I eventually received another call, so now I had to get to the root of this.  Comcast doesn't do this.  So I actually called Comcast and made them aware of what was happening on my end and it was relieving to hear that the people telling my that I had over due payments weren't actually Comcast.  When I come to think of it, this only happened after I moved out of my parent's house.  I've had the occasional call to my cell phone when the other person was looking for my father.  Although, they weren't scamming I refused to comply.  Apparently if you're the person who's identity has been stolen and YOU get the call about questionable charges to a card you have; When you raise the question about where those products were being shipped to, it's apparently information that they can't give out.  I see that as a wall that blocks you from finding out who these people are and bringing them down through a judicial system.  That is, if they're not over international waters.

This caller wanted to provide discounted home improvements and said that "my home was selected" which essentially means they obtained my personal information from another source and wanted to sell me something. I'd recommend just hanging up or not answering. It's simply one of those telemarketers that contracts or sells home improvements through a 3rd party vendor, possibly using government subsidies or credits to write off some of the costs. I've tried this twice in the past and was not impressed.
