They aren't slick. You know that. They didn't "reroute" their number. They spoofed it. They think they're crafty by being able to send you a CID from any number they like. In a way, you've been complimented. They know you won't answer a call from a known fraud. So, they get slick. In a way, you've been insulted. They think you may be gullible enough to take a call from a fraud using a spoofed number.
Either way, you've won. They lost. It's laudable that you were able to see through them. If only more folks were able to do so! Now, don't kid yourself. My suspicion is that you were called from a scumbag working for a couple of dirt-bags in the Charlotte area of NC. No big deal. They run faster than their jaws flap. Law enforcement is well aware of them. Local, county, state & federal. The sheriffs office over there has been hearing about them for years. There's not anything they can do. It's not something they feel comfortable dealing with. The rodents working the phones come in to their sights regularly. They are never unfamiliar with the housing & meals provided to them. The real players continue to dodge & weave. It hardly matters. Payback is never more than a matter of time.
If that rude "person" calls you again, tell him/her that it's time to go back to depending on that red, white & blue striped card. The boss is just another cog in the wheel. His boss won't be able to enjoy his life much longer either. The high life can be enjoyed. The air gets thinner the higher you go. It's also a longer drop before the noose tightens up.
Live Well,
Gunnar
This number keeps leaving me threatening voicemails. Her name is Katherine from S Carmichael Arbitration. She said to have either my lawyer or myself contact them by the end of the day or she was going to file with the county courts where I live. She has a case number. Are these people legit? I don't know what this is regarding. I have never received anything in the mail, which I would think a legitimate debt collector would do. Who should I contact to get them to stop calling me?
Report them to the Federal Trade Commission. While you are at it, let them know they are going to be facing a similar fate as Williams, Scott & Associates, whose head Honcho and his employees were arrested this week for scamming 4.6 million dollars from people who did not owe anything and are facing up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud if they persist in their lies.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
They called me saying i had 3 felonies if i did not pay 5,000 they are crazy! I have already contact my local police department and made them aware of this! JERKS!
My elderly mother got a call from this number. The lady stated she was from Carmichael Arbitration Services. She was looking for my sister and that it was concerning a court case dealing with murder, very outrageous. This is kindof like the scam that calls grandparents and they tell you that your grandson is in jail and to send money so they can post bail and they have enough info to convince you. My mother made the mistake of giving this lady my sister's number because she sounded very legal--to my elderly mother. I already gave my sister the heads up. I figure if they are using a court case as a ruse, than it would be coming from the local district attorney and not from across the country in North Carolina. We live in Texas. When we entered this phone number in Google and it came back as one of the top 10 spammers in the country. Be very cautious of this number and company. Hangup or call your local district attorney, Better Business Bureau or your local news hotline which we did.
