The number called my cell phone, I didn't respond because I was at work. So they called my job asked to speak to me and when I answered the phone, I asked what is the nature of the call and they said employment verification. So I put them on hold and went to my office because I am HR. Then she said she needed to verify an employee with HR due to an application an employee filled out. I said who is the employee and she stated me name. I said this is her and I didn't fill out an application and she said I have never gone thru this much trouble with employee verification and she hung up.
A phone call from a supposed debt collector is not legally sufficient evidence of debt.
The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:
* Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money. ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]
Therefore, if that caller wants you to pay immediately, before you get the written validation notice via snailmail, or if the caller wants payment via green dot, Western Union, or other untraceable means, then the call is definitely not legitimate.
IF you wish to communicate with the supposed collector / creditor, visit the following page, for example "Action Letters" to snailmail:

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:

I received a phone call from 704-264-1119 well after 8pm. The caller said her name was Patty and asked for someone whom doesn't reside at my number. I didn't go into any details with her, because I'm sick and tired of getting calls that don't pertain to me. These people need to understand numbers can be changed at anytime, stop assuming that when someone answers the phone that it's the individual you're looking for. I told this person to remove my number from her calling list, and she agreed. I hope she honors my request, because I'm not one for receiving bill or telemarketing calls that don't relate to me or occur after business hours (9am-5pm).
Just received a call from this number on my work phone, and they called last Friday as well. No voicemail and I didnt pick up. I haven't called back because these reviews let me know it is probably spam.
