I missed a call by this # the other day, and answered today. The guy asked for Angela, and I stated that my name is Claire. He said "oh, then maybe you can help me," then started on his spiel (About the NC Hwy Patrol or the Troopers association, and providing funds for funeral expenses, etc). I wanted for him to finish, then asked him why, when calling for donations, they purposefully ask for a random name that they know is not correct. Unfortunately I could not hear his answer as the connection was horrible because it was storming, but I just hung up anyway.

Said it was a recorded for the police to send them money for fallen police officer. Wanting to know if they could send me information ... this said it was for NC

These people who call are bullies and act no different than mob bullies. I have asked to be removed for over 25 years and they call 4/8 times a month and sometimes over 5 times in one day on a holiday. I really hate when they do it on Memorial/Veteran's Day/4th of July esp but they will do it on religious holidays too and try and use that against the person that they are calling but it doesn't work on me because I now delight in messing with them and making them crazy. They once told me that they patrol ALL roads like they were going to look for me! WOW really?!?!
It is also questionable if the money even goes to any of the families so I would not trust this no matter what they say!!!

Telemarketers using the Highway Patrol Name to Solicit Contributions
We are receiving an unusual amount of calls from citizens across the state complaining that the Highway Patrol is soliciting contributions for various reasons. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol does not solicit financial contributions from private citizens. NCSHP is funded from tax dollars.
If you have been contacted by a telemarketing organization representing itself to be the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, you should know that the NCSHP receives no financial support from these organizations.
Some groups include in their names the terms "Highway Patrol," "State Troopers," or "North Carolina Highway Patrol." While some officers may be members of these associations on their own time, these organizations are not affiliated with the NCSHP. They are private associations raising money to fund their own programs.
If you have been contacted by an organization that you believe is misrepresenting itself, you can contact the North Carolina Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division at 919-716-6000.
