I had the exact call moments ago....her name was Megan with an East Indian accent which was difficult to understand. She said I had won a free watch and magazines and asked for my DOB also she had my home address already. I suspect the DOB confirmation was for some identy theft scam? She said she was to transfer the call to her supervisor but she was unavailable at the time and that I would get a call back. Highly suspicious for sure as this call was received on my cell which is not in the phone book.
Got a call from this number today, I live in Winnipeg and this is weird because last week on Facebook I siged up for this free starbucks gift card and since them I have been receiving starnge phone calls
I got a call back from a different person claiming the be from Publisher's Clearing House this morning. The number was 613-487-7939 which of couse does not accept incoming calls. She spoke great English and said she was Megan's supervisor and calling to ensure the previous call was explained correctly. She explained that I had to order 2 magazines to get the other 3 free and also pay the shipping. So this free offer now means that for the original 5 magazines for free for 3 years at a shipping cost of about $20 a month x 36 months totaling about $720 will cost even more as I must pay for 2 of these magazines. I did not ask the price once she asked for my credit card number. I told her that I will not give her my credit card and she asked why....I said because I have no idea who you really are. She hung up on me at that point. Beware of this scam everyone.
